Construction Updates

• Don Pedro Padillo

Don Pedro Padillo

Known as the "Nehemiah Site," groundbreaking on Don Pedro Padillo was June 16, 2007. With current plans for eight homes and hopes for an additional nine after that, the Nehemiah site will be the focus of GAHH construction activity for the remainder of 2007.

The first four houses were framed in early summer by the Maryland Dreambuilders, a coalition of teenagers and adults from two Episcopal churches and a Jewish Temple. They have traveled around the country assisting in the building of Habitat homes. Since that time, Don Pedro Padilla is the site of regular weekend activities as well as mid-week work by the SWAT team!

If you are interested in doing volunteer construction work on any of the homes at the Nehemiah Site, please sign up through the "Volunteer Up!" portion of the web site for available work days. With so much activity, GAHH must have volunteers scheduled and cannot accept site walk ons. We look forward to seeing you there!

Directions
From I-25 going south exit at Rio Bravo and travel west across the Rio Grande to Coors SW. Turn left just past the Wal-Mart and head south to Gun Club SW. From Gun Club SW turn right, going west, to Don Pedro Padilla SW. Turn left on Don Pedro Padilla and go two blocks to Lisa SW and Don Pedro Padilla SW. Please park on the east side of the street so that driveways on the west side of the Habitat site are not blocked.
