Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. It Was a Very Good Week"It was a very good week," declared SWAT Leader Bob Rieden in his report about construction efforts last week on Trujillo Rd. Work continues on the Radke Build and Sandia House. A new roofing record was attained with the help of able and hardworking volunteers. The shingling of Sandia House was completed in five hours!More photos and story here! Congratulations to the ReStore The New Mexico Recycling Association has notified the GAHH ReStore that it has been selected as the NonProfit Recycler of the Year. The Recycling Achievement Awards recognize individuals, businesses, municipalities, activist groups, nonprofits, and educational facilities for their outstanding work to promote recycling and composting throughout New Mexico. The Recycling Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 19, at 4:30 p.m. at the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town. The Recycling Awards includes light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Cost is $25 to attend. You can register and pay online for the awards at www.recyclenewmexico.com/conference12.htm. Consider joining the celebration as the GAHH ReStore is recognized for its work. The Recycle Awards are part of the 2012 New Mexico Recycling Conference, June 19 – 20. Aside from the Awards Ceremony, the afternoon of June 19 includes conference exhibitors and, following the awards ceremony, a performance by Recycle Man, a local musician that plays music with all recycled instruments.
